Need for nature: a primary necessity of life

When summer turns into autumn, we quickly tend to go inside. As soon as the temperatures begin to drop, we seek out soft blankets, warm drinks and crawl on the couch like hedgehogs getting ready for winter hibernation. But with a small change of perspective, spending time outside, particularly in autumn, makes us feel happier and more in tune with nature. Even, or maybe especially, when the weather isn't perfect.

Being outside in the summer is easy. The sun is shining, it is warm, we love nothing more than being outside. Being outside in the fall is a challenge. It is chilly, sometimes downright cold, it regularly pours from the sky and it gets dark early. And yet the need to be outside remains. Why? Because connection with nature is a basic need.

This can be explained from evolution: we like the sound of a flowing stream because it lets us know that drinking water is nearby. Nature gives us information that is essential for our survival. Even though this is not true today, nature still gives us a sense of peace and freedom. Being outside relaxes the body in ways we sometimes don't even consciously notice.

So take those blankets and warm drinks outside with you and find ways to immerse yourself in nature this fall. Scarf up, put on a thick cardigan and drink your morning coffee on the garden bench. Brave the elements and take a portable lamp into the woods for an evening walk at dusk - who knows, you might come across a deer or hedgehogs. Garden parties just for summer? Not if you ask your guests to dress warmly, light an outdoor fireplace and roast marshmallows in the fire.

STRINGLIGHT

The Stringlight is an atmospheric light string that brightens up any indoor or outdoor space. The mouth-blown glass shades are colored and coated and can remain outdoors all year round. Among the trees at the back of the garden, on the balcony or above the garden table: the Stringlight provides warm white or colored light. The Stringlight is available with white or colored glass shades and is 12 meters long. The bulbs (for the eight fittings) are included in the delivery. Note: attach the Stringlight at a minimum of five points to avoid too much pressure on the ends. The glass shades are blown with care. No shade is exactly the same and that makes each Stringlight a unique product. Because of the hardened coating, you can use the Stringlight the whole year round outdoors. On one end of the cable is a European plug and on the other is a metal hook to attach the Stringlight to a pole, branch or wall.

DUTCHTUB ORIGINAL

Experience nature from within the Dutchtub original and experience the luxury of outdoor bathing. The iconic wood-fired hot tub allows you to fully relax in your own backyard all year round. The Dutchtub Original is made of polyester and a steel coil. The water at the bottom of the tub is drawn in through the coil and heated by the fire of the wood-burning stove. The water flows into the tub and in this way uses natural circulation of the water. The Dutchtub holds 600 liters of water per splash.The Dutchtub is comfortable, a real eye-catcher and with its 75 kilos it is easy to move. Close your eyes and focus on your surroundings and the sounds around you. Combined with a drink, the Dutchtub is a cozy drinking spot for an evening with friends. In addition, you will receive a wok, to keep the flames under control. The tub seats four people and reaches a temperature of 38 degrees within about 2 to 4 hours. Filling the Dutchtub Original: The bathtub of the wood-fired hot tub is easy to fill using a garden hose connected to the (turbo) tap. A full Dutchtub holds approximately 600 liters of water.Wood-fired hot tub: The coil contains a heating basket in which you can light a fire. This fire serves as the heat source for the water, and through the circulation of water via the coil, the hot tub is heated. Alternatively, you can leave the Dutchtub unheated and use it as a refreshing bath on warm days.Circulation explained: The Dutchtub Original is heated through natural circulation of the water. The water at the bottom of the tub flows through the coil at the top of the tub — and the fire heats the water as it passes through the coil. Stirring the water occasionally helps distribute the heat evenly throughout the tub. Depending on conditions, the water reaches 100°F (38°C) after 2 to 4 hours.

SWING

The Swing, designed by Thor ter Kulve, turns any tree into a playground. The straps used to attach the Swing are suitable for trees or poles up to two meters circumference. Simply attach the swing to a pole or tree and discover your surroundings from a new perspective. A wonderful way to put your thoughts aside or have fun with the kids. Circumfence of the tree should be between 94 and 200cm, for a tree thicker than 2 meters in circumference we have extra long straps, these are available separately in the webshop.
